Basis of the plan
A space large enough for the stream was secured not to cause flood relying on the data collected in the past 200 years about local torrential rain.
Considering the Cheonggyecheon as being a stream in a city, the height of overhead clearance has
been applied relying on the rate of 1950~1980.
Design criteria
- Starting point ~ Point of joining the Seongbukcheon(Stream): Local stream Grade-II (Design made relying on the data collected in the past 50 years)
- Point of joining with the Seongbukcheon ~ Point of joining with the Jungnangcheon (Stream): Local stream Grade-I (Design made based on the data collected in the past 80 years)
Flood water level
Major measurements of the stream
Width: 19~13m
Low water channel width: 6~72m
Width of terrace spaces on both sides of the stream: 2~27m
Height of terrace spaces on both sides of the stream: 3~7m
Height of low-water terrace spaces: 1~3.7m
Frequency of inundation
In the case of terrace spaces on both sides of the stream: 3 times in a year
In the case of low-water terrace spaces: 10 times in a year
