Starting with the Naebu Expressway in May 2002, traffic information on Seoul Expressways, Namsan-area roads, and urban roads is provided to citizens in real time through VMS, the Internet, inquiry calls, and Twitter.

Details of the traffic information service

Traffic information service

    • Variable Message Sign (VMS)

  • Service details
    • Before departure: Provision of traffic information through internet and phone calls → Selection of route
    • While driving: Provision of traffic information and travel speed through Variable Message Sign and mobile phone → Option to select detour route

Incident management

  • Type
    • Situation that involves traffic congestion such as traffic accident, vehicle in trouble, falling objects, etc.
    • Report on a traffic accident (080-2001-114 for toll free)
  • Treatment
    • Immediate notification to related organizations like urban expressway patrol, 119, etc.
    • Management of traffic congestion through immediate life-saving and incident handling, sharing of traffic situation, etc.
    • Utilization of Variable Message Sign at neighboring road for situation control in case of natural disaster

Provision of statistical data in relation with urban expressway speed

  • Average speed in weekdays depending on time, section, and route of expressways (once a month)
  • Average speed depending on route and days of the week in expressways (once a month)
  • Statistics/analysis related to traffic situation of urban expressways (twice a year)

    Naebu Expressway, Gangbyeon Expressway, Bukbu Expressway, Olympic Expressway, Dongbu Expressway, Gyeongbu Expressway (south end of Hannam Bridge ~ Yangjae IC), Nodeul-ro, Seobu Expressway, Hwarang-ro, Banpo-daero, Gangnam-daero, Dongjak-daero, Ttukseom-ro, Dongil-ro, road around Namsan (including Namsan 1st and 3rd Tunnel), and bridges of Han River
